
This past week, sports betting companies, Bet365 and FanDuel, received their licenses to operate in Ontario, Canada. The information was released through iGaming Ontario, which is part of the Ontario Alcohol and Gaming Commission (AGCO), which unveiled a list of new licenses for companies to launch their online gambling marketplaces next month.

According to this list, the company Bet365 received the green light to operate in the online betting market, together with Hillside. Meanwhile, FanDuel, a company owned by Flutter Entertainment, has also received its green light, as has Unibet.

In addition to these companies, it is worth mentioning that other licensees that also received the green light were: Annexio Limited, Lotogo, Coolbear, Fitzdares and NSUS Limited, which will operate under the WSOP brand. In recent days, companies LeoVegas, Rush Street Interactive, Rivalry, TheoScoreBet and 888 have also received their respective licenses.
All briefing notes have been published by iGaming Ontario, which will be overseeing Ontario when the market officially launches on April 4th. Previously, iGaming Ontario Executive Director Martha Otton had reported:
“Consumers can be assured that companies who successfully enter the new Ontario market will have met rigorous standards of game and operator integrity, fairness, player protection and social responsibility, allowing all players to play with confidence.”
In addition, Otton added: “Today, most internet gaming by Ontarians takes place on websites not conducted and managed by the province. Our new internet gaming market will give consumers enhanced entertainment choice, support the growth of a new, legal market and generate revenue that can help fund programs and services that benefit all of us.”
