
Born on December 6, 1945 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States, Dan Harrington is a professional poker player known as "Action Dan" in the world of players. His recognition in the sport came after the grinder secured the Main Event of the World Series of Poker in 1995. Life
Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Dan has had a life of strategy games since childhood. During a period of his youth, Harrington was a backgammon champion and even a chess teacher in the United States, having won the State Chess Championship in 1971 in Massachusetts.

However, before embarking on a professional poker career, Harrington also worked as a bankruptcy attorney. During this period, he even considered entering the business world, something that happened later in his life.
During this episode, Harrington had the opportunity to play a game of poker against Microsoft creator Bill Gates while Bill was still at Harvard. In addition to Bill Gates, Harrington also had the pleasure of playing with some poker legends such as Erik Seidel, Steve Zolotowe and Howard Lederer.
However, before jumping straight into poker, Harrington was a real estate and stock market salesman. Among his businesses, Harrington was the co-founder of the Anchor Loans Board of Directors.
Poker journey
As for the journey in the poker modality, Harrington made his first participation in an edition of the World Series of Poker in 1986. However, it was not until 1987 that he conquered a presence in the final stretch of the WSOP, in the most important event of the tournament series , the Main Event. At the time, Harrington ended up in sixth place at the final table, having lost to Johnny Chan. In addition to Chan, Howard Lederer was also present, who finished fifth in the 1987 WSOP Main Event.
